Week 11

After user testing and deeply research of last two weeks we came to some conclusions. First of all, we abandoned the idea of barman. We concluded that barman takes us too far away from our initially idea: too far from family time and family experience.

There is clearly defined functionality of our device: it’s device that connect smartphones at the family dinner’s time and could use resources of each phone to find and present information in the web by voice activation.

We spend a lot of time for brainstorming to get some more ideas about image of our device. There were some sources of inspiration, like Luna and Jibo that we debate over them. We tried to find image that will be connected to family and to family’s time. The strongest ideas were octopus

, genie and transformer. Transformer affected us largely because it can change its form according to context of use and needs of users. Also we were inspired by musician’s pedal boards.

Such board contain some small devices that affects on general sound. It resonates with our concept of making something common by connecting all smartphones together.

So, we ended the week with next vision of device: it’s round panel with smartphones which is connect to rails that could guide movement of phones according to search goals (to connect them together to get big picture on all monitors or to disconnect them to display small piece to each user).
